Over the last couple of years some friends from our urbanizacion and the one next to us have arranged a game once a month at various courses in the area. This last week was just such an occasion and we chose Lauro G.C.for our outing which was a little different from normal as it was the last day out for one of our number, Pete Coles, who is moving back to the U.K.
To make the day hopefully memorable for Pete we invited a few of the lads from C.O.G.S. to come along and eighteen of us made the day out. Luckily we had an early start as it turned out to be just about the hottest day of the year so far. The heat made scoring quite difficult so a winning score of 34 points by Joe King was very commendable. Sadly I managed to win the dreaded ‘Pink Plunger’ (lowest score) prize with a score of 20 points but it didn’t spoil what was a really good morning out.
The day was finished off in La Risa bar at the course with a very nice buffet lunch and some liquid refreshment and Pete will, I’m sure, take fond memories back to England of his last day out with us for a while (he did say he would tear himself away from Villa Park at some point to come back and play a game).
The best of luck then to Pete and his wife Christine back home and we’ll know you are back when we hear the call “ Where’s me putter ? ”
Till the next time
Keep your head down
Dave.
