Greetings from Sydney!

As I mentioned last week, we are off on our “holiday of a lifetime” for my husband’s 60th birthday. I am an awful traveller so the twelve-and-a-half hour, then one-hour stop-over, then another eight-and-a-half hour plane journeys were horrible. I don’t know about you but, being only 5´ tall, I think whoever designed aeroplane seats should have something nasty done to them! The headrests are in such a position at my height that the so-called neck rests hit the back of your head and, as for sleeping on a plane…. Forget it.

Anyway, we are booked into the Y on the Park where we have stayed before and the staff couldn’t be nicer. We are here for four days and rain is forecast every day but, we’re Brits and not sugar lumps that will melt so we’ll have a good time despite the weather!

We have just got back from a day’s walking around the city and, luckily after having bought brollies, the weather although dull, hasn’t been too bad. The famous QVB with all its shops and food outlets was our first port of call then we were off to The Rocks which is an area like a village that is just under the Sydney bridge. A visit to the zoo, Bondi beach, The Rocks, maritime museum, opera house and Darling Harbour are on the cards.

The birthday is on Saturday in Melbourne so we’ll “stick another prawn on the Barbie” for you all.

G’day to everyone!
