ohn Le Carré's iconic spy novel "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" was a huge television series success with Alec Guiness in the George Smiley role, plus a raft of British acting talent. La Carré is pushing 80 and is about to have his 22nd novel, "Our Kind of Traitor", in bookshops soon, and five of his novels look like they are heading for the silver screen. Brad Pitt has an option on "Night Manager" and Gary Oldman and Colin Firth will be starring in "Tinker, Tailor..."
