Straight to DVD for bullfight hero

A movie about Spain's legendary bullfighter Manolete and his passionate society mistress Lupe Sino sounds like it should have everything. But the movie "The Passion Within", starring two Oscar winners in the shape of Adrien Brody (Best Actor for The Pianist) and Spain's own Penelope Cruz (best supporting for Vicky, Cristina Barcelona) has failed to secure a cinema release. The film skilfully weaves together  footage of Manolete with Brody's scenes and the backdrop of 40s Spain is well realised. Maybe the studio thought, on reflection, that there was little public appetite for a movie glorifying a bullfighter. Whatever the reason, it has gone straight to DVD and is now available.
