… and his fans will be queueing up to buy it. Followers of the great guitarist are in for a treat
At the ripe old age of just 27, Jimi Hendrix died from drug-related asphyxia and everybody thought that would be the end of any music being published by the man who became a legend. However, a new album, entitled ‘People, Hell and Angels’ and featuring 12 never-before-released recordings is due out on March 5th, 2013 and holds a whole new dimension to his music. The new album contains material he was working on without his band – the Jimi Hendrix Experience – in 1968 and 1969, with his official website saying the tracks suggest a totally new experimental direction he was going in including horns, keyboard, percussion and a second guitar.
The cover, featuring Hendrix in a military-style jacket and scarf is in monochrome and Rolling Stone Magazine said in an article the Hendrix had been considering these new sounds for ‘First Rays Of The New Rising Sun’ – the planned double album that was to follow Electric Ladyland.
Hendrix is generally considered to have been one of the most important musicians of the 20th century. He was instrumental in developing the previously undesirable technique of guitar amplifier feedback, and had his initial success in Europe rather than the United States.
Hendrix was a headline act at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970.
