Cordoba rains claim three victims

Three people died in heavy rain in Cordoba province on Monday night. The bodies of a man and a woman were found in their respective vehicles near the Zoñar lagoon while another man was killed when a wall damaged by the rain fell on him in Bujalance.

The Guardia Civil said they had received more than 200 reports of flooding and people being swept away by the flash floods between 10 pm on Monday and 7 am on Tuesday. Malaga and Granada were on yellow alert on Tuesday while Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Jaen, Ceuta, Melilla and Badajoz were on orange alert. The rains were not expected to last longer than 48 hours.
