Despite threats of stiff fines, speed radar traps and the Traffic Authority's ongoing campaign to get people to drive more slowly, this year's vacation period has filled the province's coffers as drivers put their foot down and head for home. Last week – officially the last week of the holidays the traffic cops nabbed 246 cars for speeding on Malaga's roads at the average rate of 35 a day. They were the lucky ones who didn't get caught up in the traffic jams caused by the hundreds of thousands of cars on the move over the last holiday weekend.
