More cars but older

The number of cars in Malaga province continues to grow – but thanks to the economic crisis a third of the 1,048,257 currently on the road are at least 10 years old. The recent rise in IVA and the banks' reluctance to lend money to buy new cars has produced a boom in sales of cheap second-hand cars, with buyers looking for bargains in the €1,000-€2,000 price range. Younger men and women are increasingly looking to motorbikes and scooters to solve their transport problems – they're cheaper and more manoeuvrable in towns and cities.
