Although the waiting time for operations in Malaga province has dropped slightly in the past six months, it still has the longest waiting lists in Andalucia, after Seville. Patients for some of the 700 different surgical procedures carried out have to wait 56 days on average before seeing the inside of an operating theatre six days less than at the beginning of the year.
Malaga also has the worst record for first appointments to see specialists – an average of 43 days after asking for the appointment. And the province shares with Granada the longest waiting time for the results of tests – 20 days on average as compared to 15 days in Cadiz, 16 in Cordoba and 17 in Huelva.
