esus Manuel Gracia, the unemployed man from Ronda who set out on a 600 km walk to Madrid on July 16th arrived in the capital on Monday.
He went straight to the Parliament building to present a letter giving details about his plight. He told reporters afterwards he had been received “very well” by the Socialist MPs who attended to him and that the United Left has promised to study his letter.
He travelled back by train to Antequera where he was met by his family on Monday afternoon. Sr Gracia, who has two children aged 14 and 17, has been out of work for the past three years and longer receives any money from the dole office. His wife earns €500 a month out of which they have to pay €300 towards the mortgage.
