A 36-year-old man died on Sunday in a Benalmadena hotel after a struggle with police who were trying to stop him from jumping down a stairwell.
The hotel called in the police at 7.30 pm when a “very excited and violent” man threatened to throw himself down the stairwell. When the police arrived the man, described as “very corpulent”, warned them he was going to jump. After they managed to restrain him, the man began to feel ill and went into a state of shock. He died before the emergency services arrived.
