Groups asked to give up subsidies

Mijas town council has asked neighbourhood associations to forego any subsidies they have been receiving so that the money can be used to help the needy. Most of the 44 associations have received subsidies amounting to €118,000 for cultural or recreational pursuits but the council wants to redirect it to buying food and medicines for the poorest residents.
