st over 61,000 people joined the dole queues in August, breaking a four month drop in unemployment, while 132,000 dropped out of the Social Security system. Economy minister Elena Salgado said that taken in a seasonal context, the rise was not “bad”. The total number of unemployed now stands at just under four million – 3,969,661.
