Italian drugs chief arrested

The key drug baron in Spain for the Italian “Los Polverinos” camorra was arrested yesterday (Tuesday). Fabio Allegro, 46, was the right-hand man and major confidante of camorra head Guiseppe Polverino. He was in charge of the drugs links between Morroco and Spain, which earned millions of euros each year.

Allegro took refuge in Estepona some years ago after being found guilty of drug offences by an Italian court and fleeing the country. He had an international extradition order against his name. Guardia Civil officers had been working with Italian drugs enforcement officers since June as they put together the plan to arrest Allegro.
