Spain was given the top mark of five in a report on international human-trafficking issued by the US State Department's Office To Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. The Office, headed by Ambassador-at-Large Luis CdeBaca, provides the tools to combat trafficking in persons and assists in the coordination of anti-trafficking efforts both worldwide and domestically. Ambassador CdeBaca handed over a copy of the Office's 2010 report to Equality Minister Bibiana Aido at a meeting in Madrid on Monday. The report evaluates the “efforts and commitments” made by the governments of more than 180 countries to eradicate human trafficking. The office and its reports are considered an international reference of NGOs involved in the fight against human trafficking.
