The flood of medals won by Britain at the Track World Championships in Melbourne has raised expectations for another cracking Olympics.
Performance director Dave Brailsford anticipates Britain’s team will only improve before London.
“We’ve got more to come,” said Brailsford, who described the haul of seven out of 10 Olympic titles on offer in Beijing in 2008 as a “quirk”. “There’s no reason why we can’t step up again, but then again everybody else is going to improve. Form’s going to decide what happens at the Olympics now.”
Of the 10 Olympic events on the World Championship programme in Melbourne, Britain won five of them. Including both team pursuits.
