Malaga 1 - Valencia 3
26000 expectant fans turned up at La Rosaleda hoping to see the new look Malaga take on Valencia and for the first 10 minutes they really did look like a new side. It was, however no surprise after Valencia broke the deadlock and went 1 nil up with Aduriz heading home from a corner.
Malaga came into the game and had various half chances but Valencia had a great chance to double their lead in the 35th minute but Juan Manuel Mata was denied when one-on-one with Arnau. Just before half time Malaga equalised, Eliseu's low freekick being touched in by Fernandez at the nearpost.
The second half started brightly for Malaga, a brilliant move was met by Malaga's new €3million signing Rondon, his header being tipped over by Valencia's keeper Cesar.
The game was there for Malaga to win but up stepped Valencia's Spanish international Joaquin who drove at the Malaga defence, stepping past two and firing low into the net on the 70th minute. 4 minutes later, he finished a great Valencia move smashing home after being set up by Navarro and Aduriz. Disappointing but some positives, early days
