With Malaga looking to go fourth in La Liga, hopes were high for a good performance after last week’s home win. Malaga started brightly, Seba, Rondon and Carzola all had chances in the first five minutes. Malaga looked positive and seemed to be creating chances. Another attack and the ball fell to Isco but he finished with a weak shot. Isco, Carzola and Seba all had half chances and with the first half coming to an end a great Isco run set up Carzola who shot just wide. Toquero for Bilbao had a chance but it remained disappointingly 0-0 at half time.
Llorente came on for Bilbao after half time and with the change Bilbao improved. On 58 minutes a corner ricoched amongst the Malaga defence and the ball fell to Amorebieta who put the home side one up. two minutes later San Jose headed home a Toquero corner to make it 2-0 and then on 61 minutes Toquero turned from provider to scorer, volleying home after a great cross by Herrera to leave Malaga shell-shocked. The rest of the game was played out with Malaga having good possession but failing to have any cutting edge.
Malaga seem unable to muster anything away from home and ultimately this will cost them a European finish if it continues this way.
