C.O.G.S golfers travel to the impressive Valle Romano Golf Resort nr Estepona
Wednesday, 19 June 2013 06:15

Twenty four members and guests made the journey to Valle Romano – most of us for the first time. On arrival you are presented with a stunning looking clubhouse overlooking this superb golf resort. It is certainly a course you need to have played before, as the green placements are hard to visualise. This accounted for the scores, except for one member, being low against our usual standards.
Anyway for those of you that have not visited the course, it is strongly recommended and the scores are as follows.
Longest drive on hole 10 Nick Carwood. Nearest the pin on hole 13 Brian Millwood. Nearest the pin in two shots on hole 4 Dave Haworth. Nearest the hole in two shots, not claimed. Winning the team prize with 111 points were Dave Wrigglesworth, Heikki Kontinnen, Brian Millwood and Tony Hussey.
The day’s main competition: In third place with 27 points was Tony Hussey, in second Place with 30 points was Brian Millwood and in first place with a great score of 40 points was Heikki Kontinnen. Well played Heikki. In last place with 10 points and the winner of the wooden spoon was Phil Beardmore.
Our thanks to Elaine at Lainey’s bar for the food and a hangover and to Joe King our captain, Andy Macfarlane our secretary and John Bamber our treasurer for their organisation of the event.
