A 1967 Chevrolet Corvette once owned by legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong has landed on the auction website eBay
– and bidding has already topped $250,000.
The blue coupe remained locked in a garage for more than 20 years before being purchased by its current owner this February. While the three-owner car – once driven by the first man to walk on the surface of the moon – is now barely running, most of its parts are original. According to the seller, the Corvette was delivered to Armstrong in December 1966 as part of a special program run by Melbourne Chevrolet dealer Jim Rathman.
In a ploy to boost sales, Rathman would offer astronauts a special one-year lease deal on Corvettes so they would always be seen behind the wheel of the latest model.
